The Whitehead Mann Real Estate team are taking part in the Great South Run 2008 to raise funds for a very deserving charity, Advocacy for Neuroacanthocytosis (NA). Donations will be made through the charity Livability.

NA is a very rare neurodegenerative disease which first affects young adults in their 20s and 30s. Uncontrollable limb movements make their walking hazardous and involuntary action of jaw muscles can cause mutilation of the tongue and mouth. It is also extremely hard to diagnose- to date there are no more than 500 identified cases worldwide. This means that the Advocacy's presence as a focal point for research, fundraising and support is all the more important.

Your donation will help the Advocacy to continue its work in support of scientific research and networking amongst the medical community, patients and their families. It is also possible that the research currently being carried out around NA will lead to a greater level of understanding around more common diseases such as Huntington's and Parkinson's. We hope you will help support The Advocacy and its work; as a small charity your donation will mean a great deal and will be much appreciated.
